Steel Challenge is such a rush. There are eight courses of fire with round plates ranging in size from 10-12 inches and rectangular 18×24 inch steel targets. Each stage is fired a total of five times except for the stage Outer Limits, fired four times. It’s about pure speed and what makes the Steel Challenge unique from other action shooting matches is that one run on every stage is a throw away. All eight stage times are added together and the lowest time WINS!
Steel Challenge started out as a renegade …

June was another busy month! I shot my third International Confederation of Revolver Enthusiasts (ICORE) match. Last year I took the plunge and shot the ICORE Southern Regional to get familiar with the game before I competed at the International Revolver Championships (IRC). I fell in love with the sport and challenge of shooting a wheel gun. It may have been my first IRC, but I knew it wouldn’t be my last.
After shooting a mostly stock S&W 627 V-Comp, early this year my gun got some serious APEX Tactical …

I love the Bianchi Cup! I fell in love with this match from the moment I took my first shots in US Army black and gold. It challenges and humbles me. It teaches me something new every time I compete. In the action shooting sports, it is the one event on the circuit where the results aren’t solely based on competitors shooting against one another. There is an opportunity to achieve perfection - a 1920 (score).
The Cup’s main sponsors truly step up. Support is led by the premiere sponsor, Midway …

It is difficult to put into words what it means to me to win my 10th USPSA Ladies National Title. Returning to the match circuit last year after taking time off to have my daughter, I tried not to put too much pressure on myself to win. My goal was to give my best and to have fun. Mission accomplished!
This season it is a different story. I have had a year to adapt to balancing motherhood, my work with Smith & Wesson and competing. I was able to start …

It was a whirlwind of a weekend! Area 6 was my first major match of the year. With only a week and half of shooting since the IDPA Nationals last September, my goal at this match was to shake off the cobwebs. Let me tell you there were a lot of them! I got in Thursday evening, shot all day Friday and departed bright and early on Saturday. I knew I was going to be tired and it would be a long day of shooting, but it was all worth …

Pete Single is one super talented metal smith. Last year I had the chance to check out some of his handiwork in his shop and was just amazed. Pete’s attention-to-detail make his guns functional works of art. A true master of machinery, Pete’s understanding of math and measurement allow him to build firearms that are tight fit, accurate and reliable. I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to have Pete work his magic on my Smith & Wesson Pro Series 9mm 1911. Of course, Pete says there’s no magic involved, …

Yep, this definitely falls into Gun Glam! Here it is! Check out the photos of my Smith & Wesson 627 V-Comp racer from Apex Tactical. Special thanks to Scott Folk who has been keeping me up to date with the latest developments, photos and video. It’s been exciting to see the work in progress.
