June was another busy month! I shot my third International Confederation of Revolver Enthusiasts (ICORE) match. Last year I took the plunge and shot the ICORE Southern Regional to get familiar with the game before I competed at the International Revolver Championships (IRC). I fell in love with the sport and challenge of shooting a wheel gun. It may have been my first IRC, but I knew it wouldn’t be my last.
After shooting a mostly stock S&W 627 V-Comp, early this year my gun got some serious APEX Tactical …

Yep, this definitely falls into Gun Glam! Here it is! Check out the photos of my Smith & Wesson 627 V-Comp racer from Apex Tactical. Special thanks to Scott Folk who has been keeping me up to date with the latest developments, photos and video. It’s been exciting to see the work in progress. The gun looks GREAT and I can’t wait to shoot it at the IRC!

I’ve been posting photo updates to facebook and twitter on my Smith & Wesson 627 V-Comp as it gets fit and trim for this year’s International Revolver Championships (IRC). The IRC has a low power factor requirement and since this is an open revolver that will only be shooting soft loads, there is a lot of room for modifications. The stock V-Comp is hefty can handle hotter ammunition. My barrel weighed in at 11 oz and after this work, its been bumped from the “Heavy Weight” division down to 8.8 …

Last year I shot my first International Revolver Championship (IRC). Based on Jerry Miculek’s gun recommendation, I chose the Smith & Wesson 627 V-Comp and had Apex Tactical take some of the weight out to make the gun a bit more manageable for me. I added an Aimpoint Micro and headed to the range to give ICORE shooting a try. After the ICORE Southern Regional and the IRC I was hooked. Now, the IRC is on my “must shoot” match list every year.
For me, shooting the revolver has been …

What a SHOT Show! The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) reported… “Overall attendance was 58,444, only several hundred shy of the show’s all-time record set at the 2008 Las Vegas Show and more than 11,000 above last year’s show in Orlando. The show attracted an all-time high of 31,280 buyers, and the 1,804 media professionals attending established a new record.” (More from NSSF)
From my perspective the show was packed and the Smith & Wesson booth was definitely busy. What struck me about this year’s show was the continuous traffic …

It ‘s been a busy few weeks! Not long after the NRA Bianchi Cup (a new video is up on You-Tube), I was on a plane for my first International Revolver Championships in San Luis Obispo, CA. The match lived up to its reputation and I had a great time. The stages were a blend of IDPA, Steel Challenge, Bianchi and USPSA and near the beautiful Morro Bay.
Local media attended the event and coverage aired on KSBY. Shooting USA was there to capture all the action and also did stage …

Back from my first match of my season, the 2009 ICORE Southern Regional, and I have to say I am officially hooked on ICORE.
Annette Aysen, Match Director for the event, and her crew of talented range officers ran over 60 revolver shooters from all over the country and even Canada. The match featured ten dynamic and fun courses of fire. Shooters were tested on simple and straight forward stages like “Not Jeff’s Prez II”, “Three Pairs”, and the all steel stage, “Four Times Six”. All were challenged by “Annie’s Standards” …
