Steel Challenge is such a rush. There are eight courses of fire with round plates ranging in size from 10-12 inches and rectangular 18×24 inch steel targets. Each stage is fired a total of five times except for the stage Outer Limits, fired four times. It’s about pure speed and what makes the Steel Challenge unique from other action shooting matches is that one run on every stage is a throw away. All eight stage times are added together and the lowest time WINS!

It’s Steel Challenge time! I had to make a last minute change to my schedule this month. All you parents out there know that when you have kids, everything changes! I had hoped to attend the super fun Pro Am Championships in Tulsa, OK, but I could only be away Saturday and Sunday. Fortunately for me, the Great Divide Shooting Club in Rawlins, WY was hosting the Wyoming State Steel Challenge.
Since moving to Montana I haven’t had the opportunity to drive to many matches. Getting a chance to shoot this …

June was another busy month! I shot my third International Confederation of Revolver Enthusiasts (ICORE) match. Last year I took the plunge and shot the ICORE Southern Regional to get familiar with the game before I competed at the International Revolver Championships (IRC). I fell in love with the sport and challenge of shooting a wheel gun. It may have been my first IRC, but I knew it wouldn’t be my last.
After shooting a mostly stock S&W 627 V-Comp, early this year my gun got some serious APEX Tactical …

I love the Bianchi Cup! I fell in love with this match from the moment I took my first shots in US Army black and gold. It challenges and humbles me. It teaches me something new every time I compete. In the action shooting sports, it is the one event on the circuit where the results aren’t solely based on competitors shooting against one another. There is an opportunity to achieve perfection - a 1920 (score).
The Cup’s main sponsors truly step up. Support is led by the premiere sponsor, Midway …

It is difficult to put into words what it means to me to win my 10th USPSA Ladies National Title. Returning to the match circuit last year after taking time off to have my daughter, I tried not to put too much pressure on myself to win. My goal was to give my best and to have fun. Mission accomplished!
This season it is a different story. I have had a year to adapt to balancing motherhood, my work with Smith & Wesson and competing. I was able to start …

The season has begun! I am proud to say that Smith & Wesson continues to set an example in sponsoring shooting sports this year starting with the USPSA Florida Open and S&W IDPA Indoor Nationals in February. Smith & Wesson is also supporting the ICORE Southern Regional and is the title sponsor of the S&W US Steel Shoot Nationals this month. I’ll be wishing my teammates nothing but the best for these events.
All this match chat has me itching to hit the range! At the end of the season last …

Women of USPSA has provided some amazing coverage of the ladies who compete in the sport. From their “Road to the Nationals” coverage leading up to the USPSA Back to Back Nationals to interviews with the Top 8 Women in each division, it’s exciting to be a part of it. Here are links to my interviews on the Women of USPSA Blog:

I hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day weekend!
Things have been crazy this month coming back from the Steel Challenge. Kippi Leatham and I had a girls weekend out for the Mile High Showdown in Ault, CO. I wish I had more time to recap the match, but in a nutshell it was a wonderful warm up for the USPSA Nationals. A big thank you to all the RO’s and Match Director Jerry Westcott for putting on such a fun and challenging match. I even enjoyed the 65 …
