I Love Being A Mom – Favorite Munchkin Moments of 2012
I think I say this every year, but my oh my has 2012 flown by! Time seems to pass so much faster the older I get and it becomes a challenge to even savor a moment anymore. Immediately after Christmas, it felt like the world was telling me I needed to buckle down and get serious about 2013. With all the “Best of 2012” slide shows and recaps in the media, it’s hard not to feel rushed to hurry up and get on with it during the last week of the year.
Truth be told, I have been a bit distracted. I have been cleaning up the bits of wrapping paper and pesky clear tape I missed off the floor, rescuing ornaments from the Christmas Tree Terror (A.K.A our cat Webley) and helping Munchkin build the latest in her growing Lego collection. There has also been a good amount of cuddle time and fun with crayons, marbles and play dough.
I’ve been cooking up some good dinners and have even done a little baking. It’s something I rarely tackle unless such sweet delights come in a box with the instructions “just add water” (or maybe an egg, anything more has been a deal breaker). That and I have actually shut the computer and cracked open a book during nap time. It’s been wonderful.
Instead of vigorously attacking my to-do list and establishing my set of goals for 2013, I have been taking a cue from my little one. Channeling all the attitude a four-year-old can have, in my mind, I’m crossing my arms and pouting as I make the bold statement, “Well, I’m not gonna right now!”
I am officially putting off the goal-setting a little longer. Besides, it’s highly unlikely that I will be able to keep my eyes open tonight to ring in the new year anyway. If I have my way, me and my big belly will be lying in bed with a good book by 9:00 p.m. and sleeping soundly shortly thereafter.
That’s not to say I haven’t thought about 2013, but most of my reflecting has been reminiscing – not on matches, but rather on Munchkin moments. And for once, procrastination doesn’t seem all that bad of a word. As they say, kids say the cutest things, and my little one is no exception. These Munchkinisms have brought me many smiles and so I thought I would share with you some of my favorites from 2012.
Here’s hoping you have been able to enjoy the last days of 2012!
