WATCH: Flashback to the 2019 Safariland Red Solo Cup
The NRA Competitive Shooting Division recently announced that they were once again open for business for sanctioned events despite canceling almost all of the national championships for 2020. There are several action pistol matches scheduled for the remainder of the year and I hope to be able to shoot a few.
The update made me realize that I’ve had this video mostly edited for quite some time. I thought I would share it this week as a flashback to last year’s shooting season — The 2019 Safariland Red Solo Cup.
The Safariland Red Solo Cup is essentially a fun practice match TGO Rob Leatham, Kyle Schmidt, Dave Mathis and I shoot in preparation for the Bianchi Cup. It’s an event loaded with sarcasm, pun intended.
I’ve managed to bring home 2 Red Solo Cup wins, but that’s only because I am shooting Open Division and as a general rule, Kyle Schmidt cannot win. Still, a 1916 out of a possible 1920 is a score that I’m proud to shoot. Perhaps the real MVP of the Safariland Red Solo Cup is Dave. He somehow manages to design, build, and paint the awesome trophy by the end of the week each time we shoot it.

I can’t wait to shoot with these guys again. Not only do they make me laugh, but I learn so much too. I hope you’re lucky enough to have great shooting buddies too!
