WATCH: Love at First Shot A Tale of 2 Strategies
Utter chaos… That’s what immediately comes to mind on a stage like the first course of fire on this season’s Love at First Shot.
Team with a Twist
Swingers, disappearing drop turners, a Texas Star and bonus targets (soda cans) at 13 yards? I certainly didn’t go easy on our teams for our first shooting test. My goal for this stage was to see how well our competitors communicate while challenging both team members on their shooting skills. Requiring different target engagements for each shooter meant that the Pro would not be able to dominate the shooting portion of the stage. Both players would have to perform.
As Pros, Annette, Becky, Cheyenne, and Janna know that timing is everything on a stage like this. What happens when they pair up with an inexperienced amateur and have no idea how their teammate will perform under the pressure? It’s the great unknown for the first stage in our Pro/Am Challenge.
In this video, I discuss two different strategies and offer a few stage breakdown tips of my own…
Natalie and I also had a chance to shoot the stage. We opted for a version of Strategy 1. I chose this plan because I know how well Natalie can pull a trigger. Even though she has been very busy as a new mom and hasn’t been to the range in a long time, she’s very competent on steel. The plan worked out very well for us. Paired with a true novice-level shooter, Annette’s strategy was not only safer but in Team Purple’s case, a solid one too.
