Breaking Down Stage 2 – Hoop There It Is | Season 5 Love at First Shot
If you’ve been following NRA Women’s Love at First Shot you know that we have just 2 episodes left and I am breaking down each stage on my YouTube channel. This week I am dissecting Stage 2.
Hoop there it is
We kicked off the competition in our Pro-Am Challenge with a course of fire packed with movers, droppers and even a Texas Star. The targets were moving but the competitors were stationary. In Stage 2, I switch it around and get these ladies running!
While brainstorming the stages, I thought of using hula hoops as shooting boxes. Instead of just setting up steel targets, I wanted something that would break apart when hit. The result? Ceramic plates color-coded with respective hula hoop positions. Here’s the breakdown.
Like in the first stage, we saw 2 different strategies with 3 teams choosing the same plan, and one team another. Purple, Red and Blue pros all opted to shoot the bonus targets while Green, let their amateur take a shot at the soda cans.
When chatting things over with my teammate and host Natalie, like Team Green, we opted for the second strategy in our test run. The M&P 380 Shield EZ is such a soft little shooter. It’s almost like shooting a .22 cal. and that means the competitor is less likely to flinch and miss. It meant a little extra running on my part, but those cans at 5 and 7 yards respectively are much closer than 10 and 15 yards with that heart rate up. I knew Natalie would be able to hit them. Coordinated communication with one-for-one hits produced the fastest time on the stage. Yay #TeamYellow!
