WATCH: Shooting Sports Video, a Schedule Update, Getting Crafty Outside & Shooting Sports Month
July turned out to be a very busy one! I have a ton of projects I am working on — some for work, some for fun! First things first, though I want to update you on my match season.
Official word came out that the 2020 Bianchi Cup is canceled. My hometown regional match, the Flagler Cup, and the Crawfish Cup down in Louisiana quickly followed suit. Even though there are a couple of matches still on for this crazy season of COVID, I’ve decided to save my ammo and my efforts in action pistol for 2021.
This means there are just 2 matches left for me this year and they are the back-to-back USPSA Single Stack and Limited-10 Nationals, hosted by the CMP down in Talladega, AL. I’m looking forward to competing at the beginning of September, but will also monitor the situation to make sure I stay safe and healthy for the sake of my family. 2020 may be a bust for organized matches, but that doesn’t mean you can enjoy National Shooting Sports Month!
This Saturday, August 1st kicks off an entire month dedicated to the shooting sports. I realize that many ranges are still closed for matches, but it’s a GREAT time to learn more and practice skills for that shooting sport you’ve been interested in. Follow womensoutdoornews.com and subscribe to their YouTube channel for a video on 5 shooting sports I recommend you check out. Stay tuned for posts with free targets and a chance to win some cool prizes. Make sure you’re following the National Shooting Sports Foundation and Let’s Go Shooting too!
Even though I haven’t been competing, my work-from-home life has had me at a computer and behind a camera outlining ideas, writing, and filming. I can’t wait to share the things I have been working on! Stay tuned.
Like so many of you, I constantly strive for a balance between professional obligations and family life. This spring and summer have been rather challenging since we’ve essentially been in quarantine since March. We usually take a family trip during the summer and spend time at the local pool. Not this year. That doesn’t mean we haven’t had fun.
If you follow me on my stories, you know we’ve expanded the chicken pen and our flock. We have 2 new kittens, a garden and have several ongoing projects around our little farm. With the wildflowers in full bloom, this month my daughters and I spent a morning gathering flowers and pressing them for a bookmark craft for Women’s Outdoor News. After creating our masterpieces, the girls chose pen names and wrote about it at The WON – Outdoor Fun for the Family with Easy Pressed Flower Bookmark.
2020 has been full of surprises, hasn’t it? I imagine it will continue to deliver in that regard, but I’ll still be doing my best to make the most of it. I hope you are too!
