SHOOT Quick Tip – Consistency is Key for Purse Carry
I don’t want to sound like a broken record, but I can’t say it enough. If you choose to carry a firearm concealed remember that YOU are responsible for your firearm at all times. Off-body carry in a bag or purse requires some specific attention though. Because a bag can be carried in so many different ways, those who choose to carry a firearm this way need to keep some additional things in mind.
In last week’s SHOOTing tip I listed some things you should keep in mind if you choose to carry a firearm concealed in a purse. This week is still all about purses (or any other suitable bag designed to carry a firearm) and why consistency is important.
Be Consistent when Carrying Concealed in a Purse
- Wear your purse on the shoulder which allows you easy access to your firearm with your strong hand.
- Every time you place your purse on your shoulder also make sure it is oriented properly and that you can acquire the grip.
- Regularly practice dry firing (that means with no ammunition around you) and drawing your firearm both safely and efficiently to become proficient.
- Remember that carrying a firearm is a huge responsibility and that you are responsible for your firearm at all times.
