WATCH: Federal’s 30 Super Carry Compared to .380 & 9mm in the S&W Shield EZ
I’ve been so excited to not only shoot Federal’s new 30 Super Carry but to share my thoughts with you too. In this week’s video, I talk through the data on the new caliber and also compare it to .380 ACP and 9mm on the Shield EZ platform.
There certainly is a lot of chatter about this round. One thing to consider is that this caliber can give shooters more in the areas they care about. The guns and ammo combinations we choose are personal. I appreciate the Shield EZ for what it is and the user it was designed for. It’s also a fun gun to shoot, but it’s also not the pistol I’m using for carry or home defense. We have a lot of options to choose from, not only in pistols but in caliber as well.
As for how both the Shield and the super carry shoot, as I mention in the video, the American Eagle 30 Super Carry is loaded to sync up with its corresponding Federal HST. That means it’s going to feel very much like its paired defensive load as well matching up the point of aim and impact. To me, this American Eagle in super carry load feels like 9mm, and out of the Shield EZ it cycles very quickly.
Here’s some more video on the Shield EZ and 30 Super Carry.
