On the Cover of USPSA Front Sight Annual
Hey, I know that girl with the S&W revolver!
I am one of several competitive shooters on featured on the cover of the United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) Front Sight Annual. From safety rules to scoring and the different divisions within practical shooting the Front Sight Annual serves as a virtual handout that provides a brief overview of the sport. Chances are you if you’re new to shooting or to competition, after flipping through the Annual you’ll have more than a few questions. Don’t be intimidated by all the equipment surveys, calls to share on social media or the shop talk geared toward affiliated clubs. Instead, head to uspsa.org and scroll down until you reach the map of the US. Click on your state, or the states closest to you, to find a club in your area.
Even though USPSA is a national organization, it’s at the grassroots the sport truly shines. Once you’ve found a club near you, grab eye and ear protection and head to a local match. Be sure to check in at registration and let them know you’re new and are there to watch. You can learn so much from just watching a competition. It’s a wonderful opportunity to find a USPSA mentor, meet new friends and get started!
Shooters at the local level are wonderful ambassadors and one of the best resources to learn about the sport. Some clubs even host new shooter programs or classes to help you get started. Many offer Facebook groups to keep you connected.
Practical shooting is how I fell in love with shooting sports and I hope the same for you. Let me know on social media if I can help answer your questions about practical shooting and I hope to see you at a match this summer!
