Watch: S&W’s Lever Action Model 1854
When Smith & Wesson launched the new Model 1854 at SHOT Show this year, it caused a stir. No one expected it.
It reminded me of when the company launched the Shield EZ. The skeptics asked, “WHY!” Many poo-pooed the pistol before they fired a shot. Not only did it become a huge hit in .380, Smith followed it up with 9mm and Performance Center offerings. Taking the same easy-to-rack technology, they applied it to the Equalizer for even more features.
Smith & Wesson product managers and engineers were just as thoughtful with the company’s first lever action rifle. Whether this will become a hunting gun, truck gun, or used for home protection there are plenty of reasons why it’s getting so much attention. Though I’m a little late to the party with my video on the Model 1854, it meant that I was able to take some time with it and share an in-depth look.
